The cost for passports and related services could increase very soon if proposed fee hikes from the United States Department of State take effect. With the official comment period ending on March 11, the State Department has indicated it will implement the new fees immediately.
The State Department is proposing that the cost of a new passport will increase to $135 for adults and $105 for children. That's up from $100 and $85, respectively. Travelers needing extra visa pages in existing passports - currently a free service -will pay $82.
